A Letter From the Deputy Superintendent
Dear School Administrators and Educators,
I am thrilled to invite you to join schools across the nation in celebrating a century of academic excellence and linguistic achievement through participation in the National Spelling Bee -- the oldest educational competition in U.S. history, now marking its 100th anniversary. This is an extraordinary opportunity for your students to showcase their spelling abilities, gain invaluable experience, and represent your school on both regional and national stages.
Why should your school participate in this time-honored event? Here's what your students will gain:
A Tradition of Excellence
For 100 years, the National Spelling Bee has provided students with the chance to deepen their understanding of language while building a legacy of academic success.
Personal Growth and Confidence
Competing in front of an audience encourages students to build their confidence and improve their public speaking -- skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom.
Enriching Educational Experience
Beyond spelling, students will grow in their ability to think critically, develop perseverance, and hone their communication skills, which will benefit them in all areas of learning.
Exciting Prizes and Opportunities
Students can earn local recognition and teh chance to advance to the national competition, with incredible prizes, including cash rewards, scholarships, and the unforgettable experience of traveling to Washington D.C. to compete on a national platform.
School and Community Recognition
Participation in the National Spelling Bee brings pride and recognition to both your students and your school, as they represent the excellence and dedication of your educational community.
100 Years of History
As we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the National Spelling Bee, your school has the chance to join this historical moment, empowering your students to become part of this rich legacy of academic achievement.
To participate, at no cost, simply register your school with the National Spelling Bee and provide your students with the opportunity to prepare for this prestigious competition. Along with registration, your school will receive comprehensive study materials, resources, and access to local and regional spelling bees. 100% of your first-time registration fee will be reimbursed on December 1st by the local sponsor, the Idaho Character Foundation.
I strongly encourage you to consider this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for your students to take part in one of the most respected academic competitions in the country. Let's work together to foster a love of language, build self-confidence, and offer our students the chance to shine on a local and potentially national stage.
If you have any questions or need assistance with registration, feel free to reach out. I look forward to your school's participation in this incredible milestone and seeing your students succeed in the journey of words.
Warm regards,
Dr. Michael Nelson
